Some Country Church, and Poor Choice in Accessories

Published August 27, 2014 by April Fox

I found these things relevant, once
held under water, laughing at the concept
of salvation in my
short skirt and my
haze of green
perception, I saw
Jesus on the
precipice
taking flight, mortality a bitter
shock
as his brains came out and decorated
rocks and sand and
trees, the bark burnt sour
with the pain
of recognition.

I wore the necklace that you made
until it faded
and fell off
tiny charms around my neck left to remind me
to let go.

The water tore me clean and my
salvation
was my own.
